update from LC Uni of Oslo

Update from LC University of Oslo

Hi there fellow beavers. It strikes me, I have'nt really
given any updates yet... so where to start.
well, its allways nice with a conference, so I'll start
with that. At our last national conference our LC
took home the prize best developing LC, which
was quiet cool:) so that's where we are now.
I have taken over after the previous LCP, which
did a great job, so through the next term is
further growth and expantion in focus. I probably
represent the smallest LC in this group, current state
is 13 members, so our further focus through this
term is to buils a solid fundament at the university
of oslo.we're in wacation mode here right now, that is not to much going on, but we will be receiving interns during summer, 2 allready arrived, 3 more to come.we have quiet ambitious goals on exchange this term,so we'll have quiet a chalenge there. and in Marchwe will arrange our third national conference forthe term, called Unite. As an LC we are taking onbigger tasksand more responsibility nationally, which I hope will drive us in the right direction.
we'll also start working on a revenue generation plan, cause we need more, new and stable sources for income, so if any of you have ideas or experiences:)

regarding our common project, I'm getting more motivated to establish closer LC to LC cooperation with you guys. I think it could be areally cool thing:) I hope I'll be able to make the
next skype meeting:)

at the end I'll just finish of with a photo of my all so known sailing boat:)

Fortius 2008 - 60 years of AIESEC in Denmark

AIESEC Denmark’s 60th Anniversary took place at Copenhagen Business School, Solbjerg Plads, and at a beautiful location in Copenhagen, where there was a gala dinner, award show and a big party.

The theme for the celebration was climate change. There was a Climate Change Summit, initiated with a panel debate, with well-known individuals from the Danish business world, professors, NGOs, the Ministry and entrepreneurs. After this, there were working groups to put forward concrete solutions to how we can contribute towards creating a more sustainable world. The solutions were compiled in order to be presented to the Ministry of Climate and Energy for the forthcoming UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen 2009.

A wonderful part of the summit was the opportunity to go back in time and experience AIESEC’s history through the stories from the very individuals who helped shape AIESEC: the founder of AIESEC Denmark.

Beginnings...

...are the hardest.

Or at least that is what an old (Croatian?) proverb says. On the other side, if one searches for the proverb on-line, there are actually not that many results to look into and find the source of that proverb. After little time of pondering over it, one may ask if it is a proverb at all. Yet, it still sounds as familiar as a cliché we have already embraced for a fact of life.

Something close to the mentioned familiarity is what I have come to experience upon my arrival to WENA LDS 2008 in Bamberg/Heiligenstadt (Germany) after meeting the rest of the guys and girls comprising, what was later that evening named the PARTY BEAVERS HomeGroup.

As a HomeGroup we spent 5 days together, from morning to evening, in constant interactions, open discussions, intense reflections, and real challenges. We all connected from the start in our common goal to get the absolute maximum out of the whole conference. Our discussions extended at times long after the formal minutes had elapsed. We met even outside the regular sessions time to continue the amazing work we were achieving. We were pushed by our faci Kristian and by ourselves to contemplate on the issue of Leadership in our lives and to stretch ourselves outside our comfort zones. All this was done through different tasks our HomeGroup went through, that Gabby already mentioned in the 1st post. Those 5 days in Germany created an immense impact in our lives.

Before going back to our LC realities, and our normal everyday lives, we created a Pact: we would continue developing what has been created during WENA LDS even after the conference ends, for the connection that had been made extended far beyond the scope of the original 5 days deep onto the paths of friendship. We decided to keep our friendship alive and use it to make a needed change in our communities. We decided to follow the true AIESEC path and by developing ourselves today into the Leaders of tomorrow make a positive impact in society!

We Are the 10 PARTY BEAVERS:
  • Gabby
  • Peter
  • Martine Mikaéla
  • Ariel
  • Espen
  • Alexandra
  • Herbert
  • Anna
  • Tandy
  • Kristian - faci ;)

In the following weeks and months we will be posting on the walls of this place, building the dam we started at WENA LDS 2008.

ABOUT the project The Eye To The World:
The PARTY BEAVERS will use this blog to create a platform for the constant communication and exchange of eXPerience, LC realities and Ideas between ourselves and our LCs. Our goal here is to update each other on:
  1. Personal eXPerience - after WENA LDS
  2. LC reality - events in each of our LCs
  3. Ideas - ways of putting international connections to practice
+ Gossip, off course ;)

Each of us shall update the blog on these points every 4 weeks. This will ensure for the news from each PARTY BEAVER and each LC to be posted in a rather dispersed yet concentrated enough time period.
In time, we will hopefully learn a great deal about the 3 aforementioned points and thereafter build further successful international projects on them.

Our LC Members are encouraged to read the blog, follow what is happening in each of the LCs, and give their own suggestions. However, they may communicate with other PARTY BEAVERS only through this blog, by posting Comments.

Let the sharing begin!

Party Beavers UPDATE

Hello there Party Beavers!
first of all let you know i´m up to date about all the ideas and work of the group, and I want to contribute with some point,
i would like to see a lot of comments about it.

In Order to give a formal Shape to our initiative, We need to declare our intentions in a formal way in our LC's.

This declaration is a document where each LC informs about it's intention of keeping an open and multi lateral talk with the Pb initiative, and the represented LC's (Bilbao, CBS, AAU, etc), with the clear intention of evaluate the viability of starting a common process, share knowledge, and resources and mainly ensure it of achieving a positive impact in our cities.

This paper should be signed by the Local Party Beaver person, and the Local Committee President; the paper must be published in the PB media Tools, the Local PB wall , and be included in the LCP Planning.

This actions will contribute to a formal and serious beginning.

So, the first step could be to redact the document,

Party Beavers Homegroup 3

Western Europe North American Leadership Development Seminar (also known as WENALDS) took place this year in Germany, @beginning of March 2008.

Let us meet ....................

The Party Beavers!!!

a very creative and bonding homegroup, at WENALDS '08;
consisting mostly of yellow and green profiles according to the DISC model;
people who like discussing a lot, but able to lead themselves further towards their goals and dreams

"Beavers' ability to change the landscape is second only to humans."

The kind of people I look for to fill top management spots are the eager beavers, the mavericks. These are the guys who try to do more than they're expected to do / they always reach.

Thank you for making this conference a great learning experience for me and lots of fun too! I tried to pinpoint some of the cool things we did together.
- creating our homegroup roll call (who has the video??)
"You are yellow you are green
Party beavers are THE team
Wooohooo WOoohooo
Say it loud and say it proud
Random crowd is NOT allowed!"
- the spider exercise!
- the feedback session -- which I believe bonded us even more somehow
- the discussion about goals, vision setting, statements, the walk in the forest
- the blind-folded-obstacle-exercise in our room
- group hugs
- the dances on our last night meeting + the brauser fun drink lol (I have a video on that)

This blog is about our vision of creating something together, despite the location differences (we are from 7 different AIESEC countries). In the following posts you will get to find out more about us, our ideas, our paths of development since WENALDS '08, and of course about this new project EYE TO THE WORLD.

Read you soon.
Hugs from Copenhagen,

Gabi

PS: Ariel will write more about our project (a specific description)
Then each of us will update on what's been happening in our LC ever since WENALDS, and about our development and motivation after the conference.
